Book Review: Cat’s Cradle By Kurt Vonnegut

Tiger got to hunt, Bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder, “Why, why, why?” Tiger got to sleep, Bird got to land; Man got to tell himself he understand. This is satirical comedy on end of the world.

This is a very entertaining novel on the world ending, which filled with funny and interesting characters. Dr Felix Hoenikker is one of the scientists who helped to create the atomic bomb.  Before dying, he has left the dangerous and mysterious substance in hands of a future world, a new form of ice which freezes everything at room temperature. In search of this substance, we get explore Hoenikkers children , author who wants write book on Hoenikker and journey to the amazing island.

This was the funniest book I read on fiction. English in this book is very simple and unique for me as compared to other books I have read. The thing I most liked about this was, it has very short chapters containing short sentences. Chapters are so short that I completed in it like 2-3 minutes. Hence It becomes easy to read faster and finished the book early. Plus I can leave the book without any scene in between as I can finish a chapter in a minute or two.

As for the plot, it’s great. It starts as slow but as the story moves forward, it becomes more and more hilarious. At one point I even start to laugh out loud in my bedroom. It contains a fictional satirical religion called Bokononism. Which is kind of a centre of funny element for this book. It shows how people believe in stupid things even if they knew these are stupid things. And people still follow this madness even if it doesn’t make sense to anybody. This novel a lot of time focuses on human stupidity.

If you want a fictional book about the end of the world and satirical humour or you want to read a funny story in simple and easy English. I will definitely recommend this book to you. What’s your favourite fictional comedy book?
