Book Review: Brain Droppings By George Carlin

When you’re young, you don’t know, but you don’t know you don’t know, so you take some chances. In your twenties and thirties, you don’t know, and you know you don’t know, and that tends to freeze you; less risk taking. In your forties you know, but you don’t know you know, so you may still be a little tentative. But then, as you pass fifty, if you’ve been paying attention, you know, and you know you know. Time for some fun.”

This was the funniest nonfiction book I ever read in my life. George Carlin is one of my favourite comedians. I loved to watch George Carlin stand up videos on youtube many times. when I found out that he is also a written book I was a little sceptical about it as I started reading it I wasn’t disappointed It is as funny as his stand up videos.

The book contains just a bunch of random thoughts and bits from his comedy material. Most jokes are on the English language and word plays which you never noticed in your regular life.  Then there are rants on human affairs and society which are good but I laughed loudly at imaginative jokes where carlin would create imaginary situations where people do funny things. One funny scene was where in old times humans had to make the first human sacrifice. It is kind of amazing that carlin will take a common situation and turn it into humorous and extraordinary.

I highly recommend this book if you want to laugh from time to time. You will like to book more if you’re already have watched some of his standup routines. So if you haven’t watched, just go to youtube and watch a few of his videos.
